dpa-infocom GmbH is the information service subdivision of dpa Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH (Hamburg), the leading national news agency in Germany and one of the major news organisations in the world. dpa-infocom develops and produces multimedia news products for the web, mobile portals and print purposes.

MINDS

The MINDS Platform (MINDS = Mobile information and news data services) is a technical framework for managing mobile services for media companies in a highly flexible way. It is a kind of "Plug&Play" solution for the mobile publishing businesses of newspapers which involves both the handling and distribution of content, a complete billing and support/consulting infrastructure as well as the development of new applications and services.

Cross Media Services for Newspapers

Newspapers and other media are therefore given the chance to offer attractive services to their customers easily and to generate additional revenue. The solution also enables innovative cross-media marketing campaigns for advertising customers. The MINDS Platform was developed by dpa-infocom and arvato systems and was launched in Germany in March 2005. More than 60 newspapers currently offer mobile services via MINDS.

MINDS International

To enhance the development and the dissemination of mobile services in Europe, dpa-infocom founded MINDS International, a pan-European initiative of the leading national news agencies in the mobile and digital business. MINDS International originated from an EU-funded project in 2004 and nine agencies are at present taking part.

MINDS International acts as a central sales unit for mobile, online and other digital services generated by the MINDS agency partners. It helps the partners to gain access to international markets, and to start up content services in an effective manner. The unique selling proposition (USP) of MINDS Internationals' lies in its ability to utilise the resources of the news agencies involves.
